Volcanoes - Fire Mountains

Pasaje de lectura

A volcano is an opening in the Earth. Hot melted rock called lava comes out. When a volcano erupts, it shoots lava, ash, and gas into the sky. Volcanoes can be very dangerous but also very beautiful.

Volcanoes form when hot rock from deep underground pushes up. The Earth has a hot center called the core. The rock there is so hot it becomes liquid. This liquid rock is called magma.

Volcanoes - ESL worksheet reading activity

There are different types of volcanoes. Some are very active and erupt often. Some are dormant, which means they are sleeping. Others are extinct and will never erupt again.

Volcanoes can be found all over the world. Many are in the “Ring of Fire” around the Pacific Ocean. Hawaii has volcanoes that tourists visit. Mount Fuji in Japan is a famous dormant volcano.

Volcanoes are not all bad. The ash makes suelo very good for farming. Hot springs near volcanoes are used for energía. Scientists study volcanoes to help keep people safe.
