The internet is a big network of computers. It connects people all over the world. But the internet is not very old. It started about 60 years ago.

In 1969, scientists in the United States made a small network. It connected only four computers. They called it ARPANET. It was the first internet. People used it to send messages between universities.

In 1989, a man named Tim Berners-Lee had a great idea. He worked in Switzerland. He wanted to share information easily. So he made the World Wide Web. The web uses websites and links. This made the internet easy for everyone.

In the 1990s, more people started to use the internet at home. They sent emails to friends. They read news online. The first big search engine was Google. It started in 1998.

Today, billions of people use the internet every day. We watch videos, play games, and talk to family far away. We use phones, tablets, and computers. The internet has changed our lives in many ways.
