The word &#8220;dinosaur&#8221; means &#8220;<strong>terrible<\/strong> lizard.&#8221; Some dinosaurs were very big, and some were small. They lived for about 165 million years before they <strong>disappeared<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There were many <strong>types<\/strong> of dinosaurs. The T-Rex was a scary meat-eater with big teeth. The Brachiosaurus was <strong>huge<\/strong> and ate plants. The Velociraptor was small but very fast.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tahricteaches.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/dinosaurs-esl-worksheet-1.jpg\" alt=\"Dinosaurs - ESL worksheet reading activity\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>We know about dinosaurs from <strong>fossils<\/strong>. Fossils are old bones and footprints in rocks. Scientists called <strong>paleontologists<\/strong> study these fossils. They learn how dinosaurs lived and what they ate.<\/p>\n<p>About 66 million years ago, all dinosaurs died. Scientists think a big <strong>asteroid<\/strong> hit the Earth. The sky became dark and cold. Plants died, and dinosaurs could not find food.<\/p>\n<p>But not all dinosaurs are gone! Birds are <strong>related<\/strong> to dinosaurs. When you see a bird, you are seeing a type of dinosaur. Museums have dinosaur <strong>skeletons<\/strong> that you can visit.
