This was a time when people \u2014 especially African Americans \u2014 were fighting for equality. This is what makes their story so powerful and relatable.<\/p>\n<h2>Why Do Humans Fear Mutants?<\/h2>\n<p>In the X-Men universe, humans are afraid of mutants. Why?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>&#8220;People fear what they do not understand.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Humans don&#8217;t understand mutant powers, and this <strong>fear turns into hate<\/strong>.
