Taiwan is a small island in Asia. Millions of people live there. Taiwan has a democracy. A democracy means the people help choose their own leaders. Long ago, Taiwan was not free like this. People could not pick their leaders. Today, things are very different, and the people have more power.
In a democracy, people vote. When they vote, they pick the person they like best. Each person gets one vote, and every vote counts. Adults who are 20 years old or older can vote in Taiwan. On voting day, they go to a school or hall to make their choice.
Taiwan holds a big election every four years. In this election, the people choose a new president. The president is the top leader of the whole country. The president helps make important decisions for all the people. Many people feel excited on election day.
தி government has many other leaders too. These leaders help make the laws. Good laws keep people safe and happy. Citizens can talk about the laws in the open. They can say if they like them or not. No one goes to jail for speaking.
Taiwan is proud of its democracy. People have the freedom to speak and to write. They can read many different newspapers. Voting day is usually calm and peaceful. Taiwan shows the world that a small country can be free and strong.
